Uses of storage tanks

Feb 15, 2026

Storage tanks are used to store refined chemical substances such as acids, alkalis, alcohols, gases, and liquids. They are widely used in North China and, based on different materials, generally include: polyethylene tanks, polypropylene tanks, fiberglass tanks, ceramic tanks, rubber tanks, and stainless steel tanks.

In terms of cost-effectiveness, steel-lined polyethylene tanks are currently the most superior, possessing excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and long service life. They can be manufactured in various shapes and sizes, including vertical, horizontal, transport, and mixing types.

Storage tanks are containers for transporting media in long-distance oil and gas pipelines. Oil storage tanks at the first station of an oil pipeline are used to collect and store oil and ensure the stability of the pipeline's oil volume. Storage tanks at the last station are used to receive and store incoming oil and supply it to oil-consuming units. Gas storage tanks at the terminal gate stations of gas pipelines are mainly used for peak shaving of urban gas and are gradually being replaced by underground gas storage facilities and pipeline gas storage.
