In the MMA production process, effective treatment of exhaust gas emissions is essential to meet environmental regulations and ensure sustainable plant operation. To address this requirement, we have developed an advanced MMA waste gas incineration treatment system that efficiently eliminates hazardous components in MMA exhaust gas while ensuring environmental and operational safety.

 

System Configuration & Operating Principle

 

The MMA waste gas incineration treatment system mainly consists of:

  • Waste gas collection system
  • Pretreatment unit
  • Incinerator (core unit)
  • Waste heat recovery system
  • Tail gas purification system

The waste gas collection system captures MMA exhaust gas generated during production and conveys it to the pretreatment unit. Through filtration and conditioning processes, the pretreatment unit removes particulates, impurities, and moisture, effectively protecting downstream equipment and ensuring stable system operation.

After pretreatment, the waste gas enters the incinerator. A high-efficiency burner rapidly increases the combustion chamber temperature to 800–1200°C. Under these high-temperature conditions and with sufficient oxygen supply, MMA components undergo complete oxidation and are decomposed into harmless or low-toxicity substances such as carbon dioxide (CO₂), water vapor (H₂O), and trace nitrogen oxides (NOₓ).

The high-temperature flue gas produced during combustion then passes through the waste heat recovery system, where thermal energy is transferred via heat exchangers to generate steam or hot water. This recovered energy can be reused in plant processes, significantly improving overall energy efficiency. Finally, the cooled flue gas enters the tail gas purification system, where residual pollutants are further removed to ensure full compliance with emission standards before discharge.

Operators can perform system start-up, shutdown, and parameter adjustments remotely from the control room, ensuring safe, stable, and convenient operation.

Safety Assurance

Multiple Safety Interlocks

The equipment incorporates comprehensive safety interlock mechanisms, including over-temperature alarms, over-pressure protection, and flame failure protection. In the event of abnormal conditions, the system automatically shuts off waste gas input and activates emergency cooling to protect both equipment and personnel.

Explosion-Proof Design

Given the flammable and explosive nature of MMA waste gas, the incinerator and associated pipelines are designed with full explosion-proof protection. Explosion-proof electrical components and instrumentation are used, and explosion relief devices are installed to effectively mitigate explosion risks.
